The old cliché “time flies when you're having fun” describes how I feel about teaching Language Arts. I love kids, word roots, teen literature, student writing, engaging discussion, poetry, correct spelling, metaphors, highlighters, skits, and classic novels.
Outside of school, I enjoy time with my husband, daughters, and grandsons. I also enjoy yoga, biking, running, learning to play golf and tennis, paddle boarding, cheering for my alma mater U of M, and my book club. Teaching high school for over 20 years, I often felt the pull toward the particular energy and needs of middle schoolers. The last nine years, I loved my extraordinary groups of seventh and eighth graders -- both teaching and learning with them. This year, I am excited to teach eighth graders!! I hope to guide my students through a wonderful year in LA and to prepare them for what's around the bend in the years ahead. It's going to be a terrific road trip together! |
